Thoughts

Dave was born William David Farmer in Prescot on the 10th July 1956, he sadly passed away on the 28th May 2016 suddenly without warning. Dave and Sue met 28 years ago, and have a son called Nicholas. Nicholas was the light of his life and was very proud to see him graduate and progress in his chosen career. Nicholas shared Dave’s love of Manchester United and being season ticket holders they spent precious time together putting the world right. Nicholas has turned into a lovely young man who makes us proud to call him our son. Dave was also very proud of his brother in law who he called his No 2 son or “Our Chrissy” as Dave called him. Chris called on Dave when he needed help whatever time or wherever it would be and Dave would be there because he loved Chris as a son and a friend Dave had many passions in his life his beloved TR6 which he was building from scratch, Steam trains and vintage Lorries. He loved the theatre especially Broadway. Dave liked to play the lottery, he loved watching boxsets including thanks to Nicholas Breaking Bad we think he had a secret ambition to be Walter White. He loved eating at his 2 favourite restaurants The Maharaja where he was part of the furniture and him and Raph spent many hours gossiping and Hadley Park where the family have celebrated many happy and memorable moments. He loved watches and big TV’s and always got his way in this area. We had a great circle of friends who we had spent many happy occasions all involving food, alcohol and merriment great times that I know he cherished. Dave was passionate about his work and made many longstanding friendships along the way. He was pleased to have friends and colleagues all around the world who knew that he would support them through rough times. The team at Delphi where he had worked for many years have been a great support to the family and we hope that the people there will be part of our lives as we go forward on this different journey. Dave was a loud and imposing character but once you knew him you never forgot him he could talk for England and had an opinion on everything and let you know it, but the real Dave had a heart of gold and would help anybody if he could. Many stories have and will be told about Dave Farmer some will be told in secret as they are not for general hearing but many will be told with happiness in people’s voices. Dave was loyal and when he made a connection with somebody it stayed some people lived many miles away in other parts of the world so they did not speak as often as he would have liked but when the phone went it would be as if it was yesterday. People have/will have heard many different accounts about Dave all true but we know that he will be looking down today not believing the effect his life had on so many people. We would like people to remember Dave as that larger than life loud character who made you smile or sometimes scream in frustration. His family, friends and work colleagues have lost a loyal man but we are all better for knowing him. We miss him being loud and over talking us but we take comfort in knowing that somewhere out there he’s being loud and over talking somebody still we’ll just have to listen a little harder to hear him.
